CLASS NEWS…

We have our Back to School Night this Tuesday, September 11 from 6:00-6:30 in our classroom.  This is a time for you, as parents, to see and hear many of the things your first grader will be doing throughout the year.  There will be lots of information shared so we will begin promptly at 6:00.  At the meeting, you will have an opportunity to sign-up for fall conferences.  The general PTA meeting will be from 6:30-7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Grades 3-5 will have their Back to School Night presentations in their classrooms from 7:00-7:30 p.m.  I hope to see all of you Tuesday night!

FALL CONFERENCES:

Our upcoming parent-teacher conferences will also be a great time to learn more about how to help your child with reading, writing, math, and student skills.  In first grade, they are parent-teacher conferences, so please make childcare arrangements for your 20-minute slot.  Your first grader will be providing input into the conference before the adults get together to talk about goals for your child.

On September 18th, I will send home a conference form for you to complete.

THANK YOU:

Thank you to Ricki, Blake’s mom, and Shweta, Aisha’s mom, for taking on the role as our room parents this year.  They will help organize grade level parties and events and will be an important point of contact for you this year.  Thank you, ladies, for taking on this leadership role!

FIRST GRADE REMINDER:

How many of you look at your child’s work each week when the Tuesday folder comes home?  If you did not start this practice in Kindergarten, now is the perfect time to begin!  This is an excellent way to spend quality time with your child, and gain an insight into what she/he is doing at school.  Keep in mind that only work done independently is graded.

SCHOOL NEWS:

RRISD requires any person volunteering (i.e., field trips, classroom, cafeteria, library, WatchDog Dads, etc.) to submit a Name Based Criminal History Check each school year. The online application is available at https://partners.roundrockisd.org/volunteer/or linked from the Canyon Creek home page. Please take time to complete and submit the application early.
