ANNOUNCEMENTS & SHENANIGANS:

100th Day of School!

Our classroom was bursting with cuteness on Friday as we celebrated our 100th Day of First Grade!  This annual milestone always makes me pause and reminisce.  It is so easy to still picture their anxious little faces on the first day of school.  They arrived with kindergarten fun so fresh in their memories but ready to fill the shoes of BIG first graders.

In just a few months, we can measure their growth in so many ways!  They are taller with more windows in their smile.  They have the first grade routines down so well that some days I am not sure if they would even notice my absence!  Their enthusiasm for every new learning experience fills our room to the brim each day.  Seeing them dressed in grown up clothes always makes me excited for their future.  They have so many great things ahead of them.  Happy 100th day!

Thank you to all who donated treats for their delicious 100th day snack!!  We appreciate YOU!

We started work on place value this week. This a new concept for our first graders. Thinking about numbers in tens and ones can be abstract to them but they did such a great job with tackling this new concept.

We had a parent reader on Friday. Nidheesh’s mom came and read to all our first graders dressed up like 100 year olds!

VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY:
On Friday, your child brought home a class list that he or she can use when addressing valentine cards.  It is in their backpacks.  This coming week, the first graders will make a special valentine bag to hold all of their valentine cards and goodies that their classmates bring!  Please feel free to send in your child’s valentines any time NEXT week.   I will provide time for your first grader to pass them out before our party on the 14th. Valentines will need to be here no later than Valentine’s Day morning so that we can finish this task before our scheduled party!

Many thanks to our wonderful room moms, Ricki and Shweta, for organizing this fun event!  They are busy preparing and will be in touch soon with how you can help!

PARENT SURVEY
If you haven’t already done so, please take a few minutes and do the parent survey. This provides such great feedback to our school and we love to know what you are liking about CCE and suggestions on how we can continue to grow and do the best for all our students. It is quick and easy and greatly appreciated. You can find the parent survey here.
