Here comes February

We had a great week back and it was nice to be back for a full 5 day week.

We started introducing our research unit by exploring tools that will help with research. They got to practice some dictionary skills as well. Next week, we will dive into research on George Washington.

We worked on addition strategies but also reviewed coins. This is a great thing to review with your child at home. Have them help you count out money to pay for things or identify the coins you need. We really focus on identifying the penny, nickle, dime and quarter and then their values. I am adding in some great songs that are helpful for coins. Music always is a great way to have information stick to your brain.

Logan’s dad was our watch dog today so he got to read to our class. Logan picked a fan favorite The Day the Crayons Came Home.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

I want to thank you all so much for being understanding while I was out with my back. All your kind words have meant a lot.Even though this was another short week with MLK day and then an ice day, we still had a busy week. It was so great to finally see all the kids on Wednesday. It sounds like you all had a great break. We shared a lot of good things this week. On Friday, we went to a school assembly about Jump Rope for Heart. Your child’s fundraising forms were in their planners.

We had 2 guest readers this week. Paige’s grandmother came to visit and read to us on Wednesday. She even brought everyone a handmade pig bookmark.

On Friday, Zane’s mom came to read to us. We always love when we have special readers.
