Light, Heat, and Sound! Oh My!

This was a great week! I enjoyed getting to meet each of you parents and show you all the great things your kids have been working on so far in Kindergarten and then setting some goals for them this year.

To start off this week, we introduced our morning tubs that I had created the Amazon wishlist for. Thank you so much to all the families that have donated some items for these morning tubs. The kids really enjoyed them and are much more excited for morning week each day!

We dove right into light, heat, and sound energy this week. We got to explore each type of energy each day. We melted crayons onto paper to see heat energy in action. We also tested some objects by rubbing them on the floor to see if they created any heat energy.

img_0534

For light energy we used some light objects to watch light energy in action. We used some light spinners and even a light brite! We also made shadow puppets to see how light energy works.

img_0536

For sound energy, we used film canisters to shake secret objects to see if we could guess what was inside based on the noise. We also used instruments for sound energy! Enjoy the videos below!

In language arts, we read a lot of fall and pumpkin books. We created a chart of adjectives that describe the inside and outside of pumpkins.

Last Week!

Last week was a lot of fun! We ended the week with making our own ice cream! We turned on Kidz Bop “Shake it Off” and shook our ice cream until it turned from a liquid to a solid. We also got to have a little taste.

We also worked on graphing with goldfish. We used the different colored rainbow goldfish to sort and then we plotted them on a graph.

This week, in the library, Mrs. Bamford helped us create an advertisement on why you like your teacher. They read the book, My Teacher is a Monster the week before that.
